The members of Element NL are working towards a CO₂-neutral energy system. Element NL represents the interests of companies that produce oil and gas in the Netherlands, both offshore and onshore, and that develop CO₂ storage projects.
These oil and gas companies explore potential gas reserves in our subsurface, on land and in the North Sea, and produce Dutch natural gas. This ensures safe and responsible production, strengthens security of supply, and results in at least 30% lower emissions compared to imported gas. The economic benefits are also substantial: 70 to 80 cents of every euro earned flows back to the state treasury.
Dutch natural gas provides certainty for households and feedstock for industry. CO₂ storage enables industry to decarbonise in the Netherlands. Reusing existing infrastructure contributes to an affordable energy transition.
