Reuse & decommissioning

With the emergence of renewable energy sources and the depletion of our national gas reserves, we will soon be producing and consuming less oil and gas. The oil and gas infrastructure will then become available for other applications. For example, it could be used for carbon capture and storage (CCS), power-to-gas or energy storage (see North Sea system integration). Once there is no future purpose for the infrastructure, the sector will remove it. Nexstep, jointly established by EBN and the gas sector, is the body that coordinates and facilitates the process of reuse and decommissioning.
